Traditionally, Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is provided either off-site, away from school or as a special package provided in school. However, CPD provided in this way:
- is not timely, i.e. it is not provided directly when you need it;
- is costly;
- does not allow browsing;
- does not allow review.
CPD at ‘SchoolsICT‘ is totally different.
- CPD is provided precisely when you need it not when someone puts on a course;
- CPD is very cost-effective and efficiently uses both time and resources;
- Users can browse different topics whenever they want;
- Users can review all course materials at times to suit them;
- Users can collaborate and discuss with others.
‘SchoolsICT‘ is dedicated to providing high quality courses at the time it is directly needed. The first set of courses to be launched in mid-October, 2009 are designed to support teachers to develop their own pedagogy and skill set so they can make effective use of learning platforms and in particular, Moodle.
During the Spring of 2010 there will be another exciting new concept for Continuing Professional Development being launched.
